Verse Agile Squat Rack Review: Goes Anywhere, Fits Anyone

Any personal trainer whose business survived the pandemic knows the importance of portable equipment.  I expect fitness equipment that I purchase to be something ALL bodies can use, compact enough to store in my home, and ready to travel.  Today I’m sharing what happened when the team at Verse reached out to show me their portable FOLDABLE squat rack.

I’ve used portable squat racks before at Crossfit boxes and outdoor gyms, and they can be shaky and hard to set up.  To be honest, I was expecting a similar experience with the Verse Agile Rack, but when I saw it in person, I was really impressed.  The three things I was looking for were how much it shook during a barbell re-rack, how easy it was to fold up, and if it would work for my large bodied audience.

Shane, the creator of the Verse Agile Rack, was there to show me how to use it.  I tried squats, bench presses, incline pushups and decline rows, and I even put the barbell on the highest setting and hung off of it to do some chin-ups.  The Verse Agile Rack is STURDY.  Sturdier than the form on my chin ups in fact!  Also my bossy inner child came out and I basically shoved Shane out of the way so I could play around with folding the rack up myself.  The pins, screws, and latches felt really user friendly, and with a couple pointers from Shane, I got it folded up.

This is a legit space saving fitness tool.  For something that has a 1320 lb. weight limit, it holds its own.  It’s been through a Static Load Test to produce that number!  It could fit in the living room of my San Francisco condo, the trunk of my Corolla, and folds up so well it could easily become a home gym essential for many.  I also get such a great vibe from everyone on the Verse team.  They’re excited about what they’ve created, and genuinely want to give a wonderful experience to everyone using the Verse Agile Rack.

The one tough part of using this compact fitness solution was picking it up and moving it.  Even though I’m a competitive pole dancer, I have really small hands, so it was tough for me to get my fingers under the metal to pick it up.  At approx 65 pounds, it’s not super heavy, but it’s a little awkward to carry.  Don’t worry Verse, I got you!  I told Shane it just needs straps or a carrying case.  Forget tiny purses, I want my shoulder bag to have a squat rack in it!

If you’re a personal trainer running your own business, a home gym owner, or a Crossfit coach, you’ll benefit from this foldable fitness gear.  Remember that you’ll need your own barbell and weight plates wherever you use the Verse Agile Rack, and that while I tested the limits of this rack doing creative exercises on it, I did so at my own risk and you should always practice safety when working out with any workout equipment.

I definitely recommend the Verse Agile Rack, and I can’t wait to see what their team comes up with next.  You can visit their website, the Verse Agile Rack is scheduled to be released in 2024 , and please let me know in the comments if you have questions!
